It was about a year ago this week that our vision started to become a reality and we set-up shop at 3000 Wayne Street in Endwell, shortly after, Positive LifeForce was born. We quickly settled in and got to work. It’s amazing that we’ve already moved into a new year. In this last week I’ve tried to step back and take a moment to reflect how far we have come in the past year, and the excitement that awaits us in the future. The challenge becomes, “how do we stay grounded in the present, with all of the awe of the past and anticipation of the future around us?” Last Saturday I started a 6 week Chakra Clearing Yoga Series, and in our first week we looked at our Root Chakra, which deals with staying grounded and in the present. The rest of the day consisted of a super fun and packed Kettle, Spin, and Suspend class, followed by our 1st Annual New Year Client Party. We had a blast with a made to order whole wheat pasta bar (thank you Scott), a photo booth (a hit with kids and adults alike), and our very own Kathy belting out the tunes with The Look band in our Prana Studio! And, let’s not forget our life-sized game of Jenga… Thank you everyone who came and enjoyed the evening. For those of you who couldn’t make it this year, there’s always next year…or maybe a clam-bake this summer??? As we settle into 2012, we have many new exciting programs and offerings starting up at Positive LifeForce. New Yoga classes; a 12 week “New Year, New You” Health Coaching Program; a new TRX/Kettlebell class; a Weight Loss Challenge; a Free Financial Fitness seminar, and MORE…but what I am most proud of is our first ever Fitness Makeover Program. For the last month we have been receiving nominations from all around our area, for one special person to receive a 12 week Fitness Makeover that will include Personal Training, nutritional coaching, and massage. We narrowed down over 50 nominations to 20, then 12, and eventually just 5 Finalists. Just yesterday we decided on our winner - so CONGRATS to Susan Rick who will be working out with us 4x/week in the studio for the next 12 weeks! For those of you reading this that know our team…we couldn’t just pick one person to help, so all 12 semi-finalist will be receiving some services at PLF, and we expect you to see all 5 of our finalist in the studio every week for the next 12 weeks. RRF Policy Changes: ~ Please Read ~
RRF Winter Weather Policy We do not automatically cancel classes on school snow days! Check online for class cancellations, however if you are signed-up online we will give you a call if class is cancelled.
6 am Classes: Assume class is running unless you receive a phone call. Please sign up by 10 pm the night before so that if the instructor wakes up to find they cannot make it to class, they will cancel the class online and call everyone listed by 5:30 am. If you cannot make it due to snow, email or call us and we will remove you from the class.
Year Round Small Group & Class Cancellation Policy: If you are unable to attend a class you have registered for you may remove yourself from from the class online. We require 12 hours notice (reduced from 24 hrs) to avoid a session being deducted from your class package. If you are unable to provide us with 12 hours notice, you may make up the missed class within one week. You may do this once per month. All make-up classes must be used within their designated package deadline.
SPECIAL CLASSES:
Kettle, Spin & Suspend  Thursdays - 3:30pm Saturdays - 9:15am Using a combination of Kettlebells, Spin Bikes & the TRX suspension trainer, this class provides an intense full body workout. Kettlebells provide a continuous cardio workout that improves muscular strength and coordination. Spinning delivers intense cardio and challenges the lower body. The TRX allows you to use your body weight to firm core areas and improve balance.
6 Week Chakra Clearing Yoga Series Starting Jan. 28th  $12 drop in $45 for 4 remaining classes A chakra is believed to be a center of activity on the body that receives, assimilates, and expresses life force energy. Ideally we function with all seven chakras open & balanced with each other. Opening a blocked chakra can have immensely positive benefits for your physical and mental health & that is exactly what this series of yoga classes aims to do. Each week we focus on a different chakra & we still have 5 of 7 chakras to attend to, so anyone is welcome to join this Saturday & reap the benefits of this class!
Hip-Hop Dance Workshop Thursdays at 5pm $15 Drop-in $56 for 4 classes / $108 for 8 classes Jessie will teach a short piece of original choreography step by step, adding it together and putting it to music as you learn it. Each class will consist of a new routine so don't worry if you miss a class!

This Month's Featured Recipe:Chicken and Quinoa Pilaf Ready in 30 minutes Makes 6 servingsIngredients:2 large chicken breasts1 tsp oregano½ tsp garlic powderOlive oil spray2 cups low-sodium chicken broth4 cloves garlic, smashed 1 cup uncooked quinoa½ large sweet onion, diced1 package grape tomatoes1 large green bell pepper, diced1/2 cup chopped kalamata olives 3 oz crumbled feta cheese (low-fat and low-sodium)¼ cup chopped fresh chivesJuice of 1 lemon2–4 tbsp balsamic vinegar (adjust according to desired taste)2 Tbsp cup olive oil
Directions:
- Cut chicken breast into bite-sized pieces. Marinate with garlic powder, olive oil spray and oregano. Cook chicken pieces in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat, about 10 minutes.
- Meanwhile, bring broth and garlic to a boil in a saucepan.
- Stir in quinoa, reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer until the quinoa has absorbed the water, about 15 to 20 minutes.
- Gently stir the cooked chicken bits, onion, bell pepper, olives, feta cheese, tomatoes and chives into the quinoa. Drizzle with the lemon juice, balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Stir until evenly mixed. Serve warm or refrigerate and serve cold.
